Five Examples of When NOT to Use a Payday Loan!
Payday loans can be a life saver when it comes to needing emergency cash, however due to their easy accessibility, they sometimes become
easily abused. Payday loans are always meant to be used as short-term money solutions to emergency situations. Always try to utilize other
traditional lending sources and even friends, family members or your employer, before using a payday advance. Below are five examples of
when you may be tempted to use a payday loan but should not.
5. Gifts for Yourself or Others
This may seem like a logical reason of when not to use a cash advance, but around the holidays people tend to get desperate for cash in order
to get their loved ones presents or gifts. It may be one of the hardest things to say to friends and family, but if you can't afford gifts
you need to skip them or start saving for next year. Don't be tempted to buy, even if it's the deal of a lifetime, because if you can't pay
off that payday loan by your next payday, you may end up spending twice as much for that item you got for "such a good deal".
4. If You Can Not Pay the Money Back by Your Next Payday
If for any reason you know before getting a cash advance that you will NOT be able to pay back the money on time, don't get one. A lot of people
think payday loans are ok to use if you can pay them back in a couple months, but this is where many people get into trouble. Most payday loans
charge interest every two weeks, NOT every month. So that $75 you might have gotten charged for taking a cash advance of $500, three months
later, has turned into $450 or MORE in just interest!
3. If You Have Good Credit
If you are lucky enough to have good credit, most traditional small loan or credit line options are a MUCH better choice than using a payday
loan. If you need money in an emergency try talking to your existing credit card companies about increasing your line of credit. If this is
not possible, try and open up a new line of credit or small loan through your bank before ever getting a payday loan. Often times these other
options have longer pay off periods and will not multiple in interest biweekly if the loan is not paid off.
2. Non-Emergencies
This one is pretty self-explanatory, if something is NOT an emergency don't use payday loans. If it is something that can be negotiated, pushed
back, or skipped, consider all of your options before taking out a personal loan. And always try to avoid using debt to pay back debt, meaning
don't get a loan to pay off another.
1. Gambling
This is the number ONE thing to avoid with payday advances. Never, never, never can there ever be a case made for using a payday loan to
access cash for the purpose of gambling. Like gambling, payday loans can be very addictive and need to be avoided if you are looking for cash
to gamble with. Not only is there a risk of losing your money with gambling, you will also be stuck with ever a bigger bill, come your next
payday, if you can't pay the loan off.
